Department
The Patna College established Department of Statistics in the year 2022. The department id located in the New Language Block of the Patna College. After started the department, Dr. Suman Kumar Sourabh took charge as the founder head of the department in 2023. In the last two years, various infrastructural development has been done in the department like classrooms, teachers room, departmental office etc. Further, the department is willing to establish a Computer Lab for the Students of Statistics. The department proved its potential by the students progression to higher education in Central Universities, NITs and IITs.

Vision
The aim of the department is to guide students in the development and applications of statistical techniques for the analysis of data arising in the scientific investigation of problems in various disciplines. It also provides practical experience in handling modern statistical software in the analysis of such data. In the present scenario, it is impossible to even think of any field that does not use modern statistical tools to arrive at reasoned conclusions from research studies and a statistician is always a part of any research team carrying out any research investigation.
Mission
- The department is planning to launch a vocational course on Bachelor of Data Science to meet the demand of Data Scientists across industries.
- Development of the department meeting NAAC standard, including research publications and projects, development of infrastructure like smart classrooms, computer based laboratories etc.
- To introduce short term certificate courses on statistical computing which helps research scholars, teachers and students to conduct their research work and research project.
